“Current day challenges impacting students and society due to drug use and death”

Learn current day challenges impacting society that have resulted in an increase of drug use, suicide and homicide. Hear what the Mercer County Coroner sees regarding drugs: access, overdose and impacts on students, families and the community.

What are the new trends and statistics? What prevention and intervention resources are available? What projections are there for concerns on the horizon?

Course Objectives:

  • To educate attendees on latest drug information including current statistical data and newest and most common drugs.
  • To educate school personnel on student issues and concerns regarding the Opioid Epidemic as it relates to students, families and communities.
  • To learn about Act 139 - Drug Overdose Response Immunity and its impact.
  • To learn how pupil services staff can help to educate on prevention and direct families to treatment as well.

Act 48 will be issued for 2.5 hours.

Target Audience: DPS Members and other educational staff working with students and families.
