Invitation to Participate in Diabetes Research Study

Posted over 6 years ago by Mary louise Neyhart

Dear all,

My name is Christine March, and I am a pediatric endocrinologist in training at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. I am interested in learning more about school-based care for youth with diabetes.  I am inviting you to participate in a research study.

What is the study?: The purpose is to understand the experiences of school nurses in caring for students who use diabetes devices, including insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors through interviews.
Who can participate?: Elementary and middle public school nurses in Pennsylvania who help care for students with diabetes.
What does it involve?: Your participation would involve a one-time 30-45 minute interview and a 3-5 minute online survey.  Interview questions will ask you about your experience with diabetes devices and communication with other caregivers.  All interviews can be scheduled at a time that is convenient for you and can be conducted over the phone/skype. The interviews will be recorded and transcribed, but will remain de-identified of any personal information.
What is in it for me?: There are no direct benefits.  Your contribution will go towards building better educational materials for nurses about diabetes devices in the future.  You will receive a financial stipend of $20 for your participation.
If you would like to participate or if you have any questions, please contact me at Christine.eklund@chp.edu or 412-692-9156.

Thank you!
