POTS Course and Dysautonomia International 7th Annual Conference July 26-28, 2019, Philadelphia, PA

Posted almost 5 years ago

Hello School Nurses,

I am writing to invite you and your colleagues to a CME course on a common, but often underrecognized, autonomic nervous system disorder - postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS). POTS impacts an estimated 1-3 million Americans and Mayo Clinic research found that POTS causes disability similar to COPD and congestive heart failure. Despite being fairly common, most clinicians have not receive much training on how to diagnose and treat POTS. As a result, POTS patients experience a five-year average diagnostic delay and difficulty accessing care after diagnosis.

To help reduce diagnostic delays and improve patient care, Dysautonomia International, the leading patient advocacy organization for individuals with autonomic disorders, has partnered with Stony Brook University School of Medicine to offer a comprehensive one day course on POTS at the Philadelphia Loews on Saturday, July 27, 2019, with presentations from the leading experts in the field. Please see the attached flyer for details.

The course offers seven ACCME credits and is open to any licensed medical professional. There are discounts for medical and nursing students. CME registration & details: bit.ly/2019_POTSCME. There is also a separate patient/caregiver conference happening the same weekend at the Loews: bit.ly/DysConf2019.

We hope that you will consider attending this course. Please consider forwarding the attached flyer to colleagues who may be interested in attending. Our goal is to educate as many medical professionals as possible to help reduce the prolonged diagnostic delay these patients currently experience.

Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions you may have about the course, or about the resources Dysautonomia International can offer clinicians, researchers and patients interested in autonomic disorders – including grant funding, funding to support regional CME courses, free patient education brochures, local support groups, and online educational videos.
