Please help us with our research study on school nurses and diabetes care.

Posted almost 5 years ago by Lori Kelley

Please help us with our research study at the University of Pittsburgh. The study asks about school nurses’ confidence with using diabetes devices in caring for children with diabetes in schools. Our goal is to understand how well these questions evaluate school nurse confidence with diabetes devices.

Diabetes devices include:

  • Insulin pumps: Devices that deliver insulin continuously under the skin using a catheter or small needle
  • Continuous glucose monitors (CGMs): Devices that sit under the skin and check the glucose regularly
  • Sensor-integrated pumps: Pumps that can adjust some aspects of insulin delivery based upon readings from the CGM

A few things to know:

  • This survey will take about 15-20 minutes to complete.
  • Participation is completely voluntary, and all responses are anonymous
  • Upon completion of the survey, each participant will have a random chance to receive one of four $200 gift cards as a token of appreciation. (more information in consent)
  • All responses are confidential. Data may be shared with other sites but will be completely anonymous.
  • You can withdraw at any time; however, as responses are anonymous and cannot be linked back to you, any data collected will still be used.

Are there any risks?

The only possible risk is a breach of confidentiality. We plan to store your responses in a separate file from your contact information to minimize this risk.

You can access the online consent form and survey with this link:

We appreciate the opportunity to learn from you. Findings from this study will help us learn how to evaluate nurse confidence with devices and design future educational resources.
