Penn State Project ECHO is taking steps to equip school nurses, guidance counselors, and pediatricians with strategies to address underage drinking and opioid use through the training and delivery of substance use screening, brief intervention and referral to treatment – steps collectively referred to as the SBIRT technique. Guidelines recommend providers incorporate these techniques into routine care.

Each session will be done via video conferencing through zoom, which can be accessed through your phone or at your desk. Together, experts and community providers will collaborate to discuss school-based cases and develop recommendations for care and/or improvement. Over time, participants will become micro specialists – engaged in a wider community of learners and empowered to address complex situations.
