Good morning –
We realize how difficult the past 11 months have been. Everyone has been patient, waiting for guidance on the exams and screenings, and we appreciate that immensely. It is still the expectation that schools will prioritize the mandated health screens and make every attempt to have them completed for the most vulnerable students and those with known problems. Encourage parents, as much as possible, to have the physical and dental exams completed by the student’s PCP/Dentist as these are extremely important in identifying any problems/potential problems.
Schools should determine if exams can be obtained safely and with limited potential exposure to both students and staff in a school setting. The school physician/dentist should be consulted for determining the requirements that need to be in place prior to performing exams in a school setting.
With the 20-21 SHARRS Report opening on May 15, if you have screens/exams that are incomplete due to COVID-19 we are issuing the same guidance as we did for the end of the 19-20 school year. Make sure that whoever does the data entry places a comment in the “Comment” box on the “ADM PAGE” stating this, “Health screens and exams not completed/incomplete due to COVID19”. This will aide in expediting the processing of the report. Again, we thank you for your patience and understanding.
With appreciation,
Colleen
