Teen Epilepsy Education & Support Group Information

Posted over 2 years ago by Holly Verderame

As you may know, The EFEPA launched a virtual, pilot Teen Support Group earlier this year called the Teen Epilepsy Education & Support Group.
Based on feedback and popular demand, we have decided to continue the virtual group on an ongoing basis, adding it to our line-up of support groups, alongside our regional adult support groups, parents support group, and couples support group.
Teen Epilepsy Education & Support Group Virtual Meetings will be held monthly, on every 3rd Thursday, from 6:30-8:00pm. Teens ages 15-19 who are diagnosed with epilepsy are welcome to attend. Meetings will continue to be led by EFEPA staff members Rena Loughlin and Andrew Chmielowiec, and EFEPA Volunteer Dana Pirolli.
To register for the virtual support group, participants need to RSVP on Zoom by visiting tinyurl.com/EFEPATeen, or by scanning the QR code on the attached flyer. (You only need to register once to be able to attend all future support group meetings.)
Our first virtual meeting will take place on Thursday, May 18th, from 6:30pm-8:00pm.
We do understand that the decision to combine the two support groups from our pilot program into a single group will exclude some of our younger teens. This decision was made based on past support group meeting attendance and feedback. If you feel that your client/patient needs additional socio-emotional support, please don't hesitate to contact us so we can explore other support options.
