An Exciting Opportunity from NASN

Hello PASNAP School Nurses,
NASN is providing us with a wonderful opportunity. NASN would like to pilot their T1D awareness toolkit in 3 Pennsylvania School Districts.
- PASNAP will select one rural, one urban and one suburban district.
- The district should have a high prevalence of students with T1D (greater than 5 in school district).
- Schools must have an RN in the school all day every day.
- School District SN leader has capacity to pilot the toolkit and collect data.
- Each pilot school district will receive $2000.
- School Districts selected will need to:
- Sign a services agreement with NASN (to be sent by NASN and signed before project period and funds disbursed).
- Provide the name and address of recipient of funds must be included in services agreement (Authorized School District official).
- Implement the project during the project period: August –December 2024.
- SNs in pilot site will need to be trained on the tool kit.
- Complete the data collection tool and send it to NASN at project end.
- If your District is Interested, please submit the answers to the following questions by July 1:
- What is your district’s typical caseload of students with diabetes?
- Is there an RN in participating building every day?
- Would every building in your district participate? If not, what percentage of buildings would participate?
- Is your district Urban, Suburban or Rural?
- Describe the structure of the school nurse leadership within your district.
- Describe how you would collect the data required by NASN.
- Please describe the methods your district would use for dissemination of information to families.
- Describe other instances in which school district administration has been supportive of initiatives for school health coordinated by the school nurses.
