Action Alert from the American Lung Association

The American Lung Associate is asking for help...
Help keep kids safe in Pennsylvania by allowing schools to provide immediate access to medications for students with asthma or suffering from respiratory distress. Please ask your Representative to support House Bill 1084, sponsored by Representative Hill-Evans, which allows schools to stock medications for an emergency situation when a student experiences an asthma attack or is in respiratory distress.
Why is it important for schools to stock asthma medications?
- Asthma can be a deadly disease if flare-ups are not treated immediately.
- In Pennsylvania approximately 12.3% of children have asthma.
- Asthma attacks can occur at any time and often without warming. Children with asthma should always have access to medication that can quickly reverse the blockages in their lungs.
- Many kids are not diagnosed until after their first attack, so children may not have rescue medications available.
It is time for Pennsylvania to protect kids by allowing schools to stock lifesaving asthma medications for use in an emergency. Ask your Representative to support House Bill 1084!
