Dear School Nurse,

National Poison Prevention Week (NPPW) will be observed this year from March 15–21, 2026.

NPPW brings together the nation’s 53 Poison Centers, community organizations, and government agencies to increase awareness about poisoning risks, teach practical steps to keep children and families safe, and promote the use of the Poison Help line (1‑800‑222‑1222) in the event of a poisoning or suspected exposure.

As a school nurse, you play a vital role in educating students, families, and school staff about poison prevention and ensuring they know where to turn during emergencies. We invite you to join us in spreading the word about the essential, lifesaving services provided by Poison Centers.

Pennsylvania is served by the Pittsburgh Poison Center About the Pittsburgh Poison Center | UPMC - Pittsburgh, PA and the Poison Control Center at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) Poison Control Center | Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Please feel free to contact either center directly if you need additional information, educational materials, or support during NPPW.

Attached is our partner toolkit, which includes resources and directions on how you can participate.

Thank you for all you do to keep students safe and informed!
