MDA provides a week-long overnight Summer Camp experience for kids ages 6-17 with neuromuscular disease at no cost to their families. Camp is a chance for kids with muscular dystrophy and related conditions to have fun, form friendships, and develop their confidence and self-esteem in a supportive environment. Campers are paired one-on-one with volunteer counselors who assist them with their personal care, and they spend their days swimming, participating in adaptive sports, talent shows, camp dances and more! We also have a volunteer medical staff, who are crucial to the success of this program. Medical staff members stay at camp for the week and their responsibilities include:

• Maintaining Equipment and Supplies
• Dispensing Medications (licensed physicians and nurses only)
• Performing first aid
• Maintaining records and documents of care (MDA medical logs)
• Being part of the Emergency Decision Team
• HAVING FUN WITH THE CAMPERS!

Camp will be held from June 10th-17th at the Variety Club Camp in Worcester, PA (30 minutes north of Philadelphia), and we are recruiting medical staff volunteers. Volunteers for the medical team must have at least an RN or LPN license in Pennsylvania. This volunteer opportunity is an amazing opportunity to spend a week making a difference in the life of local children with neuromuscular disease! Lodging and food are provided to volunteers at no cost, and MDA maintains malpractice insurance for all medical volunteers.

Anyone who is interested in getting involved can contact Laura McClellan, Camp Director, for more information atlmcclellan@mdausa.org or 610-325-5758. Thank you! Have a great day!
